New Finance Officer
I am pleased to announce that Heather Lenhardt will be joining the Executive Team as our Chief Finance Officer. As many of you may know she has an MBA in business as well as experience in finance. She will be leaving the University of Rochester and she will begin her new duties on Monday October first. This is a full time administrative position so she will discontinue any direct patient care duties at CHS MIHC. This is a loss to our community as she steps away from her role as a paramedic... read more

Gas Receipts
CHS has a process in place to ensure the correct fuel is used when fueling rigs. The first check is verification between the crew. The receipt should be the second check that the correct fuel was used. The final check is the duty officer. The receipt ends up with the bookkeeper where is used to reconcile fuel invoices. The goal is to assure gasoline does not get put in a diesel truck, it will ruin the engine. The check before and after fueling is essential because errors have occurred in... read more
Paramedics from an agency other than CHS MIHC
Just a reminder that at NO TIME is a paramedic from another agency permitted to ride in the back of our ambulance alone. At a minimum, our EMT rides and completes a full PCR. If it is a situation where a fly car paramedic on scene declines to transfer care to our paramedic (which is their prerogative), our paramedic will ride in the back with the visiting paramedic. Please be sure to inform the other paramedic that we will return them to their vehicle, however we are in service when leaving... read more
RSI Medication Changes
We are no longer stocking Succinylcholine as of August 1st. Some kits already have had it removed due to expiration or warm stock replacement, and we are not restocking the medication. RSI Techs have already been advised, and the wall charts will be reposted shortly. Meanwhile PLEASE be diligent about dating RSI Kits when they are moved. We have two kinds: warm and cold. Kits may be moved from one environment to another due to vehicle maintenance or restock. Please make sure when a kit is... read more
Your Carbon Monoxide Detector, and You
Since we’ve reintroduced the CO detectors on the primary response bags there have been some questions about their use and meaning. To clear up some misconceptions and reinforce the reason for these devices, here are a few tips: • If the device alarms and flashes, and KEEPS alarming and flashing, there is a problem! o The detector is set to monitor several levels of exposure, the most serious of which is a life-threatening amount of CO in the air around you. o If the device starts alarming... read more
Second Rig to MVAs
Just a reminder that the second rig responding to MVA’s does not come on the air, they just send a note via Bryx and respond in service unless another resource is needed.
Henrietta Station - Traffic Light Button
Please remember when responding to a call from the Hene Station to please press the Traffic Light Button and the end of the ramp in the garage. This gives you a green light and left turn arrow and will display a red light to all of the other motorist entering the intersection. You still have to aware of the distracted drivers that are not paying attention.
